  • Every year the Greek system donates time and resources to provide Safe Halloween, an opportunity for community children to trick-or-treat.

  • MSU developed an educational video called the “Rental World” (www.offcampusliving.msu.edu/rentalworld), designed to help students prepare to move off campus.

  • About 20 MSU psychology students volunteer each year as mentors for the Crossroads program offered by Gateway Community Services.

  • MSU’s Department of Mechanical Engineering organizes an annual Design Conference at the MSU Union, which is open to students from EL and other local schools.

  • The Joint Hazardous Materials Response Project is an effort combining the services of MSU’s Office of Radiation, Chemical, and Biological Safety and the EL Fire Department.

  • MSU art students design and teach adult and children’s classes in ceramics, drawing, and sculpture.

  • Fifty-six MSU students volunteered to help with the EL Parks and Recreation Program at the Hannah Community Center.

  • EL provides regional sewer treatment for both MSU and Meridian Township. MSU partially pays for these services.

  • Most of the efforts of the EL Code Enforcement Department are dedicated to keeping off-campus rental housing safe for student renters.

  • MSU student leaders meet informally with the EL City Council at the beginning of every school year, and the Associated Students of MSU interacts frequently with the City Council.
