  • MSU faculty are active in many parts of the EL community, but their work with the Prime Time Senior program is particularly notable.

  • The MSU School of Social Work collaborated with EL to produce a survey to target the needs of area seniors.

  • Local fraternities/sororities and other service organizations provide household assistance to area seniors.

  • Students in the departments of Landscape Architecture and Horticulture are employed by EL to beautify the city by planting flowers in downtown.

  • Sixteen MSU students volunteered at Hope Network Lansing Rehabilitation Services in East Lansing.

  • During the 2007 East Lansing Centennial Home Tour, Cowles House and the Alpha Chi Omega sorority house opened their doors to visitors.

  • MSU’s College of Agriculture and Natural Resources sponsors Small Animals Day, which is open to the community.

  • EL provides fire protection and emergency medical services to both the city and the university. MSU partially subsidizes the cost of these services.

  • The College of Osteopathic Medicine Student Service Organization of MSU provides basic health screening and preventative medicine education to the medically underserved in East Lansing and Lansing.

  • Sixteen MSU students volunteered at Planned Parenthood in East Lansing.
